LinkedIn Referral Services overload?

LinkedIn Referral Services overload?

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve noticed an increase in the number of invitations to either refer, rank or recommend my friends or business collegues.

I already use LinkedIn extensively, and Plaxo less frequently.

I’ve been invited to ReferralKey

“When your colleague finds someone who can use your service, they simply click “Send Referral”, and provide the contact information of the person they’re referring. You’re immediately notified of the new lead waiting for you on Referral Key. It’s now up to you to contact the client, and close the sale!”

Mixtent

“Mixtent is building a professional reputation graph on top of the main social and professional networks. We believe we can become a driving force in making online recruitment and talent management materially more efficient.”

Branchout

“BranchOut is the largest professional networking service on Facebook.”

and Honestly.com

“Honestly.com is an online resource for building, managing, and researching professional reputation, using community-contributed, professional reviews. Honestly.com reviews help you get the inside scoop on other business professionals, providing candid assessments of coworkers, potential hires, business partners, and more.”

Too many networks or just something we have to get used to?

Although some of them are great ideas and implementations, I’m wondering what effect the constant circular invitations are having on my credibility and spammer perception in my trusted circle?

Simply maintaining the must-have social presence of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn is already an ongoing task, so I’m quite hesitant to take on more ‘networks’.
Being eternally curious, I’m tempted to sign up and experiment, but not at the cost of my credibility or trusted relationships.

Now if only there was a trusted ‘super-profile’ that all these services could access….

What do you think? Too many networks or just something we have to get used to?
